Page 2: The Moody Blues are one of the rare entities in the world of popular music. There is no leader, no front man on an ego trip or the centre of all the attention. There are five men whose main ambition is to utilise their great musical talent to communicate with as many people in varied fields as possible. A Moodies audience is a fantastic cross section of people. Young, old, hip, straight, all shapes, sizes and colours. All enjoy what they get from the Moodies--a feeling of honesty, that comes from the Moody Blues, as a whole, and provides one of those real occasions to really communicate with one another. From the early Mersey sounds in 'Go Now' to the present, with a string of six gold discs in between, the five Moody Blues, Graeme Edge, Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, and Ray Thomas, have developed many concepts, one of the most apparent is in continuing evolution of their music. Either you grow with the music or the music outgrows you. They are one of the few groups that can actually recreate on stage the music they have recorded. On stage they do not engage in theatrics, but refreshingly let the music do its magic. It is the honesty coupled with the fantastic talent, skill and respect for one another and their audiences that make the Moody Blues what they are, and unlike any other group in the world today. Their albums have always been personal diaries. It is perhaps surprising that with each of the Moodies contributing two tracks per album, that they should have such a universally conforming spirit behind each album, but the Moody Blues as individuals have always been so close, they think very much alike on all subjects. The philosophies expressed in their music are a combination of their own and of those around them and most importantly, from the people who attend their concerts and buy their records. It is the interaction between people of all walks of life and the willingness to freely communicate through the medium of music that provides the Moody Blues with the melodies that we associate so closely with them. The music is for the people and from the people it must come. ![]() Page 3 Page 3: The Moody Blues, pictured on the Banks of the River Mole in Cobham, Surrey. In the Spring of 1969, the Moody Blues all bought houses in Cobham, in Surrey, and proceeded to establish their Record Company 'Threshold' in the village. Its three-storeyed offices house all graphics, advertising and fan club personnel and facilities and since the summer of 1971, their own record shop. The Threshold Record Shop is on the lower floor of the building and provides the Moodies with an opportunity of meeting friends face to face. | For additional information on the Moody Blues contact TIFFANIE PARIS, Moody Blues Fan Club, 53/55 High Street, Cobham, Surrey.
